We are battling to recruit a Post Doctoral Fellow Synthetic Chemist (wine) at the Australian Wine Research Institute. Any recommendations would be welcome.

I'm sure you would have tried internal referrals for this role. Perhaps you can take it one step further...

Internal referral schemes as they are usually implemented within organisations have an inherent flaw such that employees only refer external people that they are in touch with. What about the people they have worked with in the past who they think could do the job, but they have lost contact with? Maybe you can ask employees doing a similar role to provide you a list of names of brilliant people they are not in contact with, but can do this role in exchange for a reward.

You may then pass on these leads to your in-house recruiter / external recruiter to headhunt for you...
