Yes 2009 has been, um, "character building". But as long as you were able to shift quickly with the market, it wasn't too bad. Many carried on regardless and there have been many tales in our industry of "What do I do now? I've had it so good for so…

Hi Chris, One of the issues we face is that we have not added value and that is why we are faced with change or extinction. It's not about being cheap, it's about charging what is reasonable - and fair. Experienced consultants will get the "job" do…

Couldn't agree more. And it goes even further than that. Helping your clients in their lifecycle of talent - coming, staying, and going, and points in between. Innovative thinking, value add around their business and how to secure talent going forwa…

A very interesting subject.... After nearly 30 years in the industry, this has been by far the sharpest and deepest and we have seen some top brands mortally wounded or reduced to a shadow of their former selves. I have heard that some of the intern…

This is yet another example of how the job boards don't understand their market and the behaviour of the job seekers. Page impressions? Tech speak for what? And does it really matter? In the end, it makes logical sense that in today's market, that T…

Profile Information

Hometown:
Tauranga
About Me:
Long term recruitment industry specialist. Created Executive Leasing in NZ in the 1980's.

Sold Executive Taskforce almost 3 years ago - have been out of the Auckland market since then and set up regional recruitment business, talentnow! Has been a great success bringing a specialist service that was quite poorly services by local operators and creating a network throughout the country. Am now expanding the business to represent a more national business taking into account the main metropolitan areas as well.

Strong advocate and a bit outspoken on the failings of the recruitment industry and how we go about doing business. Will be more vocal over ensuing months/years as attempt to create a new value proposition for our sector!
Areas of interest in recruitment:
Changing the way we do it, making sure we survive as industry, Adding value by helping clients do their own recruitment better! Interest in integrating both the traditional way (as in utilising the expertise we have) and effective and simple technology, as opposed to the current packages out there that deter applicants from applying.

In conjunction with my wife, we also offer technology solutions (through out Talentology division) relating to simple and effective career site development and Content Management Systems (CMS's) that are easy to utilise.
